Trade-Specific Training for Construction Site Teams

Trade-specific training is bespoke, in-house construction training that teaches each trade (groundworkers, insulation installers, airtightness specialists, and others) exactly how their day-to-day decisions affect a building's energy performance and quality. Coaction Training CIC delivers this training across the UK for teams working towards Passivhaus, EnerPHit, AECB, and other performance standards.
Why does trade-specific training matter for site teams?
Many building performance issues trace back to small, specific details on site: a gap in insulation, an incorrectly installed membrane, or a poorly coordinated interface between trades. These are rarely failures of intent, they're failures of understanding.
General training gives site teams useful oversight. But different trades face different risks,so a general session can only go so deep. For example, groundworkers don't need a detailed understanding of airtightness or commissioning — but they do need to know exactly how to lay below-ground insulation efficiently and where extracare prevents failure later. A targeted, trade-specific course allows time to go into that level of detail; a general session doesn't.
What does a Coaction trade-specific training session cover?
Because every organisation and project is different, Coaction delivers all trade-specific training in-house, tailored to the client. A typical session has three parts:
1**. Understanding building performance (context-setting)**

3. Trade-specific guidance - Training then focuses on the client's selected trade and its specific challenges:

Is a project review session included?
For projects needing a more tailored approach, Coaction can add an optional project review session covering:

This session applies the training directly to a live project, so teams start on site already confident in what's expected of them and how to deliver it — including the cost and programme impact of different choices.

Whether you are working through your first PHPP model, refining your workflow, or tackling a more complex project, these informal online discussions provide an opportunity to bring your questions directly to experienced PHPP practitioners.
Each one-hour session will focus on a specific theme, and participants will be invited to submit questions in advance. Our expert hosts will prioritise pre-submitted questions and aim to answer as many as possible during the discussion.

Join us in Plymouth for a relaxed evening of drinks, networking and Passivhaus tours as part of the Passivhaus Trust Open Days programme.
We're opening the doors to our office at <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/YX81SPjT539acQ2ZA">Admirals Hard </a>and inviting local alumni, clients, collaborators and friends of Coaction and WARM to come together for an informal summer gathering.
The evening will begin with drinks and nibbles on the balcony, followed by a tour of our office and a visit to the nearby Passivhaus home of Coaction and WARM Director, Sally Godber.
Whether you've trained with us, worked with us, partnered with us, or are simply interested in low-energy buildings, we'd love to see you.

<h2>1. Admirals Hard - (1st floor office - Certified EnerPHit)</h2>
The Coaction &amp; WARM office at Admirals Hard is located within Plymouth's historic waterfront. The project demonstrates how Passivhaus principles can be successfully applied to an existing building, delivering excellent comfort, indoor air quality and energy performance while working within the constraints of a refurbishment project.
During the tour, we'll explore some of the key features that contribute to the building's performance, including:

<li>High levels of insulation and airtightness</li>
<li>Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)</li>
<li>High-performance windows and doors</li>
<li>Thermal bridge-free detailing</li>
