What did you enjoy most about the course?
The comprehensive overview of the Passive House philosophy and its translation into built forms. The interactive discussions with the tutor and fellow students was very enjoyable and useful.
What is the most useful thing you have learned?
To consider the Passive Principles at the earliest stages of design starting with the Form Factor - strive to achieve a "new beautiful" design discipline using these principles.
How has this course benefited you?
I am able to assess both existing projects and new projects with a Passive House checklist for energy efficiency - form, detailing and specification choices. Aim to achieve simplicity in design.
Do you have any tips for future participants?
Its good to go through the course with an open mind and air any thoughts / reservations you may have - the discussion with the tutors and students helped me to let go of some of my pre-conceptions. Even if you don't wish to follow up with the full Passive House training, the Bitesize Course is very helpful to reassess basic design approach to any project, small or large.
